Crabtree United Methodist Church is seeking a Choir Director/ Organist/Pianist.

The choir director will be responsible for developing and presenting a quality music program that will enhance and complement the worship services of Crabtree United Methodist Church. The choir director will involve as many youth in all aspects of the music program as possible.

Worship service is at 11:00am on Sunday. The choir meets one evening a week to practice. Crabtree UMC primarily uses the United Methodist Hymnal and also occasionally uses the Celebration Hymnal.  Our Choir currently has 8-9 members.

Choir Director / Organist/Pianist – Crabtree UMC

Mission:

To Provide a quality music program in support of worship at Crabtree United Methodist Church.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Choir director are to develop and present a quality music program that will enhance and complement the worship services of the church. Involve as many of the youth in all aspects of the music program as possible. The methods and programs to be used are to include but are not limited to:

  • Crabtree UMC primarily uses the United Methodist Hymnal and also occasionally uses the Celebration Hymnal and Cokesbury Worship Hymnal.
  • Hold choir practice at least one time per week.
  • Choir presentations with or without instrumental musical accompaniment.
  • Instrumental music
  • Solo presentations with or without instrumental musical accompaniment.
  • Youth singers and /or choir.
  • Guest singers and presentations
  • Work with budget committee on procurement of music and choir supplies.
  • Hand bells are available for a choir but not required.

Direction:

The minister will/may prescribe any or all of music, special music and hymn selections. The Choir Director will collaborate with the minister and worship team to plan meaningful music for worship services of Crabtree UMC. The Choir director is to have professional freedom in directing and developing the prescribed music of the Church.

Recruitment:

The Choir director is encouraged to recruit new talent for the music program from within and outside of Crabtree UMC.

Absences:

The choir director shall notify the Minister and /or the SPPRC of any absence as far in advance as is possible. The choir director is responsible for the arrangement of a replacement organist/pianist at the fee of $75.00 per service performed. The name and contact information for the replacement shall also be provided to the Minister and /or the SPPRC.

Salary:

$10-13,000 per year based on experience.
